OCTOBER 13, 2020 UPDATE... We now have an adequate supply of both the pleated and the conical masks in stock at Cheeky Monkey. We also have some child sized pleated masks as well as a new pyramidal shaped mask are expected soon.  Pat McGill has noted that this new style has proven  to be the easiest to breathe in . All are comfortable but this new pyramidal is the best yet. Pat is in constant communication with the women's co-ops. Recently he was sent a picture was taken of the Mawoito women who make the masks. The clothes they are wearing would be for weddings or similar activities. Pat has observed that no matter how poor a woman is, she will have at least one outfit that is traditional and very nice (probably made by herself). After being closed to the public for half the year, Sarnia’s Judith and Norman Alix Art Gallery and The Lawrence House Centre for the Arts are welcoming back visitors. “Group of Seven: Their Visions revisited 100 Years Later” runs until August 22, 2021 and “Z’otz* Collective” runs until March 7, 2021. Curator Blazek said visitors will be expected to wear a mask or face covering, unless they’re exempt from the city bylaw, and stay home if they’re feeling unwell. The gallery will be operating under new hours, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays. It’ll be closed Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays. The gallery has reduced its room capacities and timed-ticket entry is being implemented to ensure physical distancing. SEPT. 11 UPDATE... IN THE NEWS... Thank you to Sarnia This Week for coverage of Drop # 1 and it's success. Now onto Drop # 2 on Saturday, Sept. 26th. CLICK HERE to read the story on Sarnia-Lambton This Week. MONDAY, AUGUST 31 UPDATE... HOW DROP # 1 WENT... Record Store Day Drop # 1 went very smoothly we felt. Turn out was less than a normal RSD, but that was part of the point of there being 3 Drop dates. There was still a line up outside, doing their best to social distance & all wearing masks. Line up looked as long as most years, but that was an optical illusion. They were not all bunched up like other years. We allowed 15 people in to start, than as one left another was admitted.
