Attention Musicians: CBC Music...

CBC Music's Searchlight contest is now accepting submissions of original songs. The winner of Searchlight 2020 is decided through a combination of public votes, a Canadian music industry panel and celeb judges. As part of the grand prize, the winner will take part in Canada’s premiere artist development program: the Allan Slaight Juno Master Class. The winner will be announced on March 5. Enter HERE You have until Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 3 p.m. ET to upload your original song to YouTube and register. Voting and judging will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 4. winner will be declared on Thursday, March 5, 2020.

Her mother was a singer and her aunt, Sueli Costa, is a well-known composer in Brazil. She began performing in 1997 at various clubs around Rio de Janeiro. Fernanda made her first Canadian appearance at the Yardbird Suite in 2005 and has been a regular performer in Canada from coast-to-coast-to-coast ever since: Vancouver Island and the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, the Alianait Arts Festival in Nunavut and Jazz Yukon series;  Edmonton International Jazz Festival , University of Toronto and other venues. She also has presented clinics/workshops at Mohawk College in Hamilton(Ontario) with Pat Collins trio and at Camthra Secondary School in Mississauga(Ontario), and a 1 week residency performing concerts at long-term care facilities as well as in local schools(kindergarten through secondary) in Qualicum Beach(BC) as part of the Harvest of Music Festival.
