Posted in: What's New | No Comments

The Ninth Studio Album From The Black Keys – Their First In 5 Years The Black Keys’ ninth studio album, Let’s Rock, will be released June 28, 2022 via Easy Eye Sound/Nonesuch Records. The long-awaited album, their first in five years, is a return to the straightforward rock of the singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney’s early days as a band. Auerbach says, “When we’re together we are The Black Keys, that’s where that real magic is, and always has been since we were sixteen.” Let’s Rock was written, tracked live, and produced by Auerbach and Carney at Easy Eye Sound studio in Nashville and features backing vocals from Leisa Hans and Ashley Wilcoxson. “The record is like a homage to electric guitar,” says Carney. “We took a simple approach and trimmed all the fat like we used to.” The 2019 ‘Let’s Rock’ Tour will hit cities all across North America ...

THE TALLEST MAN ON EARTH - I LOVE YOU. IT’S A...

Posted in: What's New | No Comments

In Spring of 2019, The Tallest Man On Earth will release his first album in 4 years. I Love You. It’s A Fever Dream. It was written, produced and engineered by Kristian Matsson and was recorded almost entirely in his apartment in Brooklyn, NY. When asked for some insight into the album, Matsson says “Here’s what I can tell you: Of course there are some love songs and then there are some other songs. Making the album I was thinking a lot about the lenses we view our lives through and that, for some reason, our worst tendencies seem to be carried out so loudly, while our best can go unnoticed. I’ve come to realize that some of the most powerful, most inspiring moments in my life have been the most subtle and that so often the thing that deserves my attention, is trying the least to get it.”

JAMIE CULLUM - TALLER

Posted in: What's New | No Comments

British pianist/vocalist Jamie Cullum mixes jazz with melodic pop and rock into a crossover style that calls to mind such artists as Harry Connick, Jr. and Norah Jones. In that vein, Cullum will just as often cover a swinging jazz standard as a modern rock song, and his original compositions deftly move from earnest ballads to songs of sardonic wit. Having played guitar and piano since age eight, Cullum developed an avid interest in jazz passed down from his older brother Ben. Inspired by such piano icons as Oscar Peterson and Dave Brubeck, Cullum spent some of his formative years living in Paris, where he honed his abilities performing in jazz clubs. Cullum eventually earned a degree from Reading University, during which time he recorded his first album, Heard It All Before, at age 19. Its surprise success eventually put him in contact with jazz bassist Geoff Gascoyne, who offered Cullum the opportunity to play on his album ...

THE ROLLING STONES - BRIDGES TO BREMEN

Posted in: What's New | No Comments

Bridges to Bremen captures a complete show from the final leg of the Rolling Stones year‐long tour in support of their Bridges to Babylon album, which achieved Platinum and Gold status in multiple markets upon the album’s original release in 1997. Ever the innovators, The Bridges To Babylon Tour was one of firsts – the first time the band went on the road with a permanent, and now infamous, B‐stage, and also the first time that fans could vote on the band’s website for a track they wanted to hear at the show – Memory Motel in the case of the Bremen fans, making each show on the tour unique. Opening with Satisfaction, a snake‐hipped Jagger, sporting a bright yellow shirt & scarf, is a streak of canary‐coloured lightning, while Keith prowls the stage in a tiger print duster coat. Lisa Fisher accompanies Jagger on vocals for a storming version of Gimme Shelter, and Bridges single Saint ...

WILLIAM PRINCE - EARTHLY DAYS

Posted in: What's New | No Comments

From ruminations on life and love’s little treasures to tales of everyday homegrown heroes, the music of William Prince unfurls like a classic campfire story, midnight road trip conversation, or well-worn, dog-eared novel passed down through generations. Each line delivered in his dusky baritone evokes a journeyman, troubadour spirit buoyed by stained glass soul with the gusto to reach steeplesize heights. Given this emotional heft, it makes sense that the art form bears a metaphysical significance for the JUNO Awardwinning singer and songwriter. Born and raised on the Peguis First Nation of Manitoba, Canada, William has been honing his craft since the age of nine when he first picked up the guitar and piano. Counting Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Charley Pride, Merle Haggard, and Willie Nelson (as well as books like April Raintree and Fahrenheit 451) among chief influences, he ultimately cites his preacher and musician father as the biggest inspiration. “My whole life I listened to my dad’s deep ...

THE BEACHES - THE PROFESSIONAL

Posted in: What's New | No Comments

Named after the area of Toronto they call home, brash garage pop outfit the Beaches are singer Jordan Miller, lead guitarist Kylie Miller, drummer Eliza Enman McDaniel, and keyboardist/guitarist Leandra Earl. The Miller sisters fell in love with music while they were kids: Jordan began guitar lessons at age six, and Kylie started playing a year later. Around the same time, their schoolmate Enman McDaniel experimented with a drum kit at her grandmother's house. In 2008, the trio formed the punk‐pop band Done with Dolls with guitarist Megan Fitchett and signed with Disney, ultimately releasing a self‐titled EP in 2009 and the singles "I Don't Like" and "Story of My Life" the following year. By the time they reached high school, however, they wanted a more mature sound and image; Fitchett departed the group and Earl joined the fold, completing their transformation into the Beaches. The band debuted in 2013 with the singles "Loner" and "Absolutely Nothing" before releasing its self‐titled, ...

RICHARD REED PARRY - QUIET RIVER OF DUST VOL. 2

Posted in: What's New | No Comments

The first volume of Quiet River of Dust was released on the autumn equinox of 2018; this second volume, out on the summer solstice of 2019, was created at the same time. Both volumes bleed into one another, by design. “It feels like a multi-sided window to me,” says Parry, “a different view into this prismatic song world.” Japanese folk myths, death poems and British folk music are tributaries flowing into a river of late‐20th century avant‐garde composition and traditional song craft, written and performed by a member of a Grammy‐winning rock band. This is a meditative, widescreen musical experience with Beach Boy harmonies and a hypnotic pulse. Layered songs that move in a linear fashion, following a current rather than circular composition.

SNOTTY NOSE REZ KIDS - TRAPLINE

Posted in: What's New | No Comments

Trapline is Snotty Nose Rez Kids’ 3rd full length album. Trapline brings a refreshing energy and an updated sound for the group. In a year and a half since their last release, The Average Savage (2017), SNRK have grown tremendously, and that growth can be found in their lyricism and shift to bringing carefully crafted lyrics to trap beats. Working with a mix of producers, Kato, Taylor King, Ear2theBeat, Don Xyan, Penacho, Ocean, and Pilgrim, SNRK take time to honour their history, their hometown in Kitimat, BC, and their nation, the Haisla Nation. 5 skits weave together intergenerational musings on teachings, stories and the literal trapline that delineates an Indigenous community’s place to hunt. If The Average Savage was a showcase of other talented Indigenous artists SNRK wanted to collaborate with, Trapline grows the web and includes a number of like‐minded and talented non‐Indigenous artists, international Indigenous artists, and a special collaboration with Inuit throat singer, Tanya Tagaq, on ‘Rebirth.’ Their ...
