Local Lambton County Residents and visitors can get a sneak peak of one the Tall Ships participating in the Great Lakes Tall Ships Challenge® Race Series coming to Sarnia in 2019 when the TS Playfair docks in Sarnia July 14 and 15, 2018 for its Youth Training Program.
“We are extremely excited about welcoming the TS Playfair to Sarnia this year. Over the last few months, the City of Sarnia Parks and Recreation Department and Tourism Sarnia-Lambton have been working closely with Tall Ships America and all the ports that will be part of the Tall Ships Challenge® Race Series in the Great Lakes in 2019”, says Vicky Praill, Special Events and Sport Marketing Co-ordinator for Tourism Sarnia-Lambton. “We are honoured to get a sneak peek at one of the ships that will take part in the series.”
The TS Playfair will be visiting Sarnia and are looking for new recruits to join them on board. Toronto Brigantine is proud to be celebrating their 56th year of delivering their unique sail training program on the Great Lakes. Embarking on a journey with Toronto Brigantine is a truly unique experience; their summer sailing program teaches youth valuable leadership skills, provides them with the space to develop personal autonomy and teaches the importance of working together as a team. All while embarking on an unforgettable adventure.
July 15th-25th the program will be travelling from Sarnia to Parry Sound, and there is still lots of space for youth ages 13-18 to join them for 10 days of adventure on board the TS Playfair.
“We are hoping to promote this sail training opportunity to youth in the area so they may experience our program and create excitement for the Tall Ships Challenge® next summer,” says Tasha Hyndman, Program Coordinator for Toronto Brigantine Inc. “Come visit us in Sarnia! We’ll be docked by the Duc D’Orleans II!”
