>LAMBTON YOUNG THEATRE PLAYERS present The Emperor’s New Clothes

May 17, 2022 @ 7:00 pm

Dust off your Yves St. Laurent, and that little old Versace, and get ready to attend the Emperor’s wedding parade. The kingdom is a buzz! The Emperor has the most wonderful new suit of clothes, and only those of superior capability, honesty, and intelligence can actually see them. Test the quality of your character Friday, May 17th at 7:00 PM, and Saturday, May 18th at 1:00 PM at the Sarnia Library Theatre, and don’t forget to dress for the occasion!

“The Emperor’s New Clothes is one of my favourite stories,” says LYTP Artistic Director, Nancy Keys. “It’s message is timeless, and so relevant today, but more than all that, it’s a terribly funny tale. The kids have been having a great time rehearsing the show, and they are a wonderfully talented, and joyful ensemble. I hope the audience laughs as much as we do in rehearsal.”

A delightful adaptation of the Hans Christian Anderson tale, THE EMPEROR’S NEW CLOTHES is the hilarious story of two thieves who trick an exceedingly vain Grand Emperor by masquerading as weavers with the ability to create a magic cloth of outstanding beauty invisible to anyone incompetent, or dishonest. The Emperor falls for the ruse, and the royal court is turned upside down as one and all pretend to “see” the magic cloth. The day arrives when the Emperor walks through the kingdom to show off his new clothes, but will anyone have the courage to tell him that he wears only his underwear? Truly a tale fit for the times, and much fun for all ages.
