November 2nd First Friday at Cheeky Monkey records & more store sees them bringing in a different kind of local talent to their store. Most bands are on the rock or soft rock style of music.
The Forest Pioneers have an uplifting indie/Celtic sound. They are influenced by a diverse range of bands and musicians both new and classic including The Lumineers, The Pogues, The Band, Sam Cooke and Simon & Garfunkel to name a few.
Growing up in Forest, Ontario, the appropriately named The Forest Pioneers are a trio of musicians who found each other through their common love of music. The band includes Lauren Ihrig on piano and vocals, Shannon Kelly is lead singer, Andrew Genovy on guitar and vocals rounded out by Frank Kirkey playing mandolin, guitar and singing.
During the evening at Cheeky Monkey, take a moment to enjoy the art work of Bill Walters hanging on the three back walls. His show , called ‘Escape’ will be on display and all pieces for sale until the end of November.
