The October 5th First Friday at Cheeky Monkey promises to be something very special thanks to their musical guests. Billing themselves simply as Missy and Dwayne, these two musicians bring a wealth of experience and talent together.
Missy Burgess has performed on stages as diverse as The National Arts Centre in Ottawa, to Angola Prison for Women in Louisiana, to various venues here in her home town of Sarnia. No matter where she is performing, her fans come to hear her powerful and moving voice. Her playlist draws from originals off her 3 albums as well as cover songs by some of her favourite singer/songwriters such as Tom Waits. Missy’s choices of songs are always strong on lyrics as well as melody.
Dwayne Cloes has been in the press often lately due to his documentary films dealing with the residential school. Besides being an insightful documentarian, Dwayne is a musician with admired skills in both writing songs, singing them and playing on a multitude of various instruments. His musical background goes back to the days of The Streets and follows up to as recent as a few years ago with the popular bands Executive Monkeys and Soul Patch.
The saying goes, “birds of a feather flock together” is proven true by Missy & Dwayne. Two eclectic musicians with an aptitude for writing and playing quality, diverse music have found each other to create a duo well worth hearing for yourself.
Missy & Dwayne will be playing from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. during the October 5th First Friday Walkabout at Cheeky Monkey located at 130 Christina Street North in downtown Sarnia.
