The February 1st First Friday at Cheeky Monkey marks the première appearance of the local band Strum n Drum at the downtown record shop.
The three piece group enjoy playing a wide variety of genres with a focus on Canadian music. Like their name of Strum n Drum suggests, they presents all the songs on their playlist in an acoustic styling.
Surrounding the band is the beautiful and tranquil original artwork created by Bill Walters. His current exhibit is called “Gifts Abound”, a title that can be taken several ways. Each is a gift from the artist to the viewer, showing us on canvas with brushes and paint, how he sees the world. “Gifts Abound” can also be a suggestion that his art makes a great gift to someone you care about, including and especially, yourself. Since many people have taken this suggestion, there are several new additions of his work to fill the gaps. Exhibit and sale will continue until the end of February.
Plan on stopping into Cheeky Monkey located at 130 Christina St. North from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. as part of the February 1st First Friday Cultural Walkabout throughout your downtown Sarnia.
