The November 1st First Friday at Cheeky Monkey, Sarnia’s downtown records and more store local band ‘Big Highway’ promises to guide you along on the road to great music.
Big Highway, features James McNaule on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Andrew Germain on lead guitar, Dave Johnston on bass and Ric Brown on drums. The band is dedicated to playing covers of some of the most amazing Canadian rock bands on the airwaves. Tragically Hip, Big Sugar, Matt Mays, Wide Mouth Mason are just of few of the bands they include in their extensive playlist.
‘Big Highway was formed for fun but have proven that even as adults with ‘real’ lives, they never stop enjoying performing for an audience. Coming from diverse musical backgrounds and previous bands, it soon became apparent that there was a great chemistry and enjoyment playing together. It was agreed that playing for local charity fundraisers and community events would be the bands main focus.
When you stop into Cheeky Monkey, you are encouraged to take notice of the art work done by local artist W.A (Bill) Walters. His recent Plein Air paintings continue to explore colour, and space, from a distance and up close. The current exhibit and sale running until the end of November is called ‘Solstice. Not only are Bill’s paintings wonderful to buy and display in your own home, but they make thoughtful and definitely unique gifts.
Combining the musical talent of Big Highway playing from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the visual beauty of W.A Walter’s paintings, the November 1st First Friday is the perfect combination. Stop in at Cheeky Monkey located at 130 Christina St. downtown Sarnia to enjoy them both.
