Daylight For Deadeyes were in Sarnia on Saturday July 28 to officially release their newest CD 'Summer' by playing at Cheeky Monkey in the afternoon followed by a show at Paddy Flaharty's in the evening. They are normally a 3 piece band consisting of Matt on guitar, Chris on drums and Andy on bass. Sadly, Andy was not able to make it to Sarnia in time to play at Cheeky Monkey, so the 2 Gormley brothers played as a guitar duo. Despite being one member less, they sounded amazing. They sang several songs from the new CD as well as some of their fan favourites off previous releases. One of our grandson's is visiting and was thrilled to have the song 'The Sun' dedicated to him as was I when they dedicated another song to me called 'Give You My Heart'. All of their CD's are available to purchase at Cheeky Monkey. To hear some tracks ...
MoreFollowing is an email I received. We are very pleased and honoured ! Hello Mary Anne, The Youth Friendly Community Committee appreciates all of the support that you provide to Sarnia's youth by promoting their events and by encouraging youth talent to perform at the Cheeky Monkey! The Committee believes that the Cheeky Monkey is a youth friendly store! The Committee has recently developed its own logo - reDEFINING YOUth with words around it reflecting the characteristics of Sarnia as youth friendly. The Committee is planning to identify businesses/organizations/events that they consider youth friendly, and encourage them to be recognized as a youth friendly environment by displaying the logo. We hope you will support the youth by displaying the logo. Wouldn't it be great to see the youth friendly sign all over Sarnia! Thanks for your support! MoreYes it was hot enough to fry an egg on the hood of a car during the July 2012 First Friday. That fact that didn't stop the Lambton MainStreet Players from performing for over an hour outside in front of Cheeky Monkey. These young ladies are true musical troopers. With acoustic instruments of guitars, beatbox and assorted percussion instrments, they entertained the audience with their wonderful harmonies on songs both current as well as old favorites. Three of the four were in the line up for last years Lambton MainStreet Players but all have singing and performing experience. The group consists of Orley Culverhouse, Riley Martin, Sarah Caraher and Amy Mayea. Helping with set up and running the sound systems in the mostly unseen Jon Rowed. Watch for them at other upcoming Lambton County events throughout the summer, including perhaps a return performance at Cheeky Monkey. About the same time the ...

MoreSaturday, June 23rd was a beautiful sunny summer day. The kind that is perfect for grooving to some cool music and Cheeky Charlie knew just the band to fill the need - STEADFAST. Scott, the bass player arrived first and helped set up the Red Carpet Stage outside in front of Cheeky Monkey. Early afternoon is the perfect time for live music outside the store. The tree gives just the right amount of shade to those stopping to enjoy the band. Sometimes the band gets to work on their tan though. Once drummer Gerry and singer/guitairist Leigh arrived, they were set up and entertaining passers-by in no time at all. Since it was such a beautiful day, many of the people who lingered to listen were riding bikes of one kind or another. STEADFAST played mostly original songs with a few cover tunes thrown in for variety. Leigh's distinctive vocals are always standout ...
MoreCheeky Charlie has been on pins and needles for a week anticipating the annual tour of Sarnia's downtown by the Grade 1 class from P.E. McGibbon Elementary School. He got extremely excited when Mrs. Poore, their teacher, lead the group into the front door of Cheeky Monkey for a tour of the store. He got even more excited when the kids all sat on the floor to have their picture taken with him and instead of saying "cheese" like most people do when they have a photo taken, they all hollered out "CHEEKY MONKEY"! It was awesome. Cheeky Charlie had never heard the name of his home said so loudly - and with so many giggles after it too. As the kids left the store on their way to discover another downtown business, Cheeky Charlie helped Mary Anne and Roland hand out Cheeky Monkey stickers to each and every student and volunteer in ...

MoreWhat busy boys Andy, Matt and Chris are. They are the members of the Toronto based band DAYLIGHT FOR DEADEYES. They stopped into shop and drop off some of their CD's between local gigs. Paddy Flaherty's on Friday June 8 and the Corunna Firefighters Field Days on Saturday June 9. While at Cheeky Monkey they bought themselves several Beatles gear admitting they are big fans and very influenced by them. They handed Cheeky Charlie copies of all three of their CD's to sell at Cheeky Monkey. So if you miss seeing them live, you can pick up their CD's to own. (See tab above for MUSIC BAZAAR) They also mentioned they would like to play in store when they are booked in the area again. You should have seen how excited Cheeky Charlie was about that possibility! Of course we would love to have them in here on a Saturday afternoon. Cheeky ...
