The International Symphony Orchestra is pleased to be sponsoring an Introductory Summer Strings Programme, open to ages five and above. Adults/seniors are also welcome to take part. Sessions will run from July 30th to August 3rd, 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. each morning, and will consist of instruction in the beginning elements of string playing, including: sound production; names of notes; correct hand and finger position; posture etc. Participants may choose to play either violin or cello, and instruments will be provided. A graduation recital will be taking place on the final day, August 3rd. Classes will be held in the Sarnia location, 251 North Vidal Street. The fee for one person is $60; $110 for two; and $150 for three (in the same family). Bursary assistance is available subject to financial need. A jury of 203 members from across Canada whittled down 225 albums to 40. Another round of voting will produce the Short List of 10 candidates for the prestigious and lucrative ($50K) Prize that will be announced on July 17. The winner will be declared champ at the Polaris Gala at The Carlu in Toronto on Sept 17. All runners-up will receive $3K, courtesy of Slaight Music. The Polaris Music Prize honours the best album by a Canadian artist in the past 12 months, based "solely on artistic merit, without consideration for genre or record sales." June 15, 2022 - Just this week we noticed new signs up across the street on the former Greenwood Inn/Liquid Johnny's building.  We had heard rumours for a while, but now it looks offial.  Hawgs Bar is moving in.  No date we are aware of.  So watch for more details to come.  Have to give big thank you to the new owners of the building.  They have done a marvelous job cleaning it up and giving it some class.
