Creedence Clearwater Revival – Susie Q
Van Morrison – Brown Eyed Girl
Stevie Wonder – Superstition
These are a few of the classic songs played by the local band Round House during the March 3rd First Friday at Cheeky Monkey.
Most of the songs on Round House’s playlist were hits before they were a twinkle in their Daddy’s eye. The oldest member of this talented group is a mere 17 years old. Despite their young ages, they displayed a professionalism not seen in many bands twice their age. Each is extremely dedicated to playing their instruments to the best of their ability – which is saying a lot. Learning from some of the best music teachers in the city, they have taken what they were taught and moved up to the next level.
Jared Parke the lead singer and rhythm guitarist shows great versatility with his voice. Bryce Abrams on bass guitar instinctively knows to bring the instrument to the forefront when needed. Ryan Ethridge on lead guitar was a standout on solos as well as keeping the melody solid. Brock Round on drums is rock steady at all times.
Not only do they play cover songs very well, but they also have several original songs. They ended their first set with one of those songs. It fit in perfectly with the rest of the playlist, but at the same time it stood out as being fresh with a heavy vibe. Round House currently has 3 originals they play with a fourth in the works. The hope is to have a CD worth of music ready in the very near future.
If you have not seen or heard Round House yet, you will. With their drive and commitment to their craft, they will be playing in our local music scene for a long while to come. Or at least we hope so.
