>MISSY BURGESS & SUE WEBBER @ Cheeky Monkey October First Friday

October 6, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

OCT 2017 ff posteCheeky Monkey, Sarnia’s downtown records and more store, is grateful to host Missy Burgess and Sue Webber during the October 6th First Friday. They are both extraordinary musicians in their own right, but together, they are simply amazing.

Missy Burgess is fairly new to the local music scene but has quickly made her mark in the area. From daydreaming in her brothers’ tree house to pursuing a career in the world of psychiatric nursing, to delivering educational programs in the fields of mental health and addiction, Missy has come full circle. She is back to daydreaming through her music.

Originally from Sarnia, she left for the big city as a young woman to pursue her career. Moving back 2 years ago, Missy immediately became engaged in the arts community. She is currently an active board member of The Lawrence House Centre for the Arts and hosts an open stage twice a month in The Turret Room at the Centre.

Besides performing in the Sarnia area, Burgess has performed on stages from The National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Canada to The Angola Prison for Women in Louisiana. Wherever Missy is playing, fans come to hear her powerful and moving voice.
“You can hear the weight of experience Missy brings to her strong original material and to the interpretive voice she brings to standards and the gems from other writers she chooses to cover.” (Mike Regenstreif – CKCU radio host/music blogger).

To date, she has recorded 3 albums, Pour Me A Song, Lemon Pie and Play Me
Sweet. Ask about them at Cheeky Monkey or check out her website: missyburgess.com

Joining Missy during the October First Friday at Cheeky Monkey is well respected and loved musician Sue Webber.

For many years Sue has been backing up artists of every genre… country, blues, soul and pop. With her husband George, on Hammond B-3, they have made a career in music. As a versatile musician, Sue has supported entertainers on drums, mandolin, and vocals, lead and back-up. Most notable were the five years playing in Detroit in the Goodtime Band, giving her a life long love for funky soul, gospel, and blues. Her enthusiasm for this style of music is carried on today with the current band she plays with, Sisters Of Soul.

The combination with Missy Burgess, is unique. An original female driven duo that brings a true breath of fresh air to the local music scene.

Stop by Cheeky Monkey, located at 130 Christina Street North from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. during the October 6th First Friday to find out for yourself how talented Missy Burgess and Sue Webber really are. They will definitely have a few surprises up their sleeves to entertain you.
