Area audiences will experience a joyful start to the holiday season when the International Symphony Orchestra presents their traditional Festive Celebration, “Peanuts & Sleighbells”. These gala events will take place Friday December 6th 7:30 p.m. at Hillside Wesleyan Church, Clyde Township, MI, and Saturday December 7th, 7:30 p.m. at Bethel Pentecostal Church, Sarnia.
Under the baton of Maestro Douglas Bianchi, the International Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Singers, and special guest soprano Emily Douglass will be featured in these popular seasonal performances.
Selections will include: segments from Handel’s Christmastime monument The Messiah, a must for seasonal concerts with selected arias performed with Ms Douglass; Anderson’s Christmas Festival; the rousing “March of the Toys” from Herbert’s Babes In Toyland; selections from the unforgettable A Canadian Brass Christmas; and in a first-time feature from the ISO, selections from the legendary Vince Guaraldi’s score to A Charlie Brown Christmas! And in addition to Handel’s Messiah, the ISO’s powerful Symphony Singers, under the leadership of Dr. David Troiano, will perform the stirring Vivaldi Credo with the ISO string ensemble.
Ms Douglass has captivated audiences in Europe and America with the power, clarity, and seemingly effortless coloratura of her voice, as well as the intensity and persuasiveness of her characterizations. A graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Tennessee, Ms. Douglas holds degrees in Vocal Performance, Dance Performance, and Music Education. She has appeared in operatic and oratorio roles across the U.S., and the ISO is honoured to welcome her back for another guest appearance.
