INRTODUCTORY SUMMER STRINGS PROGRAM

The International Symphony Orchestra is pleased to be sponsoring an Introductory Summer Strings Programme for ages five and over. Adults are also welcome to attend. Sessions will run July 21st to 25th, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. each morning, and will include instruction in the beginning elements of string playing: sound production/notes; correct hand and finger position; posture etc. Participants may select either violin or cello, and instruments will be provided. To register, contact the ISO Office, 225 Davis Street, Sarnia, (519) 337-7775, prior to the July 14 deadline. The location of the sessions will depend on numbers enrolled. Participants will be notified of the location before the start date. The fee is $50 for the 5 sessions, with some financial assistance available. Random Acts of Art Workshops are back with a fresh line-up of fun and innovative workshops for ages 13-18. Studio based programs explore the production of art in a broad range of mediums and techniques in traditional and new media. The workshops are free and always fill up, quickly spilling over onto waiting lists. DORKBOT @ JNAAG

Dorkbot is an informal group of affiliated organizations worldwide that sponsor grassroots meetings of artists, engineers, designers, scientists, inventors, and anyone else working under the very broad umbrella of electronic art. The goal of our Dorkbot program at the JNAAG is to provide an open discussion and peer exchange of ideas and projects from those involved in the electronic arts, to see how we can build on and develop these common interests. The program will be a two-month cycle. On the first month, a featured guest will give a presentation on their use of electricity. Sometimes guests will be local enthusiasts, while other times it will be visiting artists and inventors from across the country. The presentation will set a theme. Developing Dialogues Project ...

Free workshops and presentations for all ages MAY 2 - 14 Visiting interdisciplinary artist Adrian Stimson, a member of the Siksika (Blackfoot) Nation in Southern Alberta, will be in various communities throughout Lambton County engaging the community in his artistic practice as part of the Developing Dialogues project. The 15-day project begins May 2 and is part of the gallery's Emerging Aboriginal Curatorial program, sponsored by RBC. The workshops are intergenerational and will be available in all three First Nations communities as well as other locations throughout Lambton County including Lambton College, the JNAAG, the Lambton Heritage Museum near Grand Bend and the Sarnia-Lambton Native Friendship Centre.
