These songs are written by her friends and other great songwriters such as Beth Orton, Glen Hansard, her brother Rufus Wainwright, Michael Ondaatje, and Merrill Garbus of tUnE‐yArDs. ‘Goodnight City’ was produced by Thomas Bartlett (Sufjan Stevens, Glen Hansard) and Brad Albetta (Angus and Julia Stone, Teddy Thompson) to create a poignant album that covers a dynamic spectrum in a fluid and cohesive manager. DRAGONETTE – ROYAL BLUES

DRAGONETTE can do no wrong at the moment. From the euphoric electro of 2015’s LET THE NIGHT FALL to the surprising ska beats of this year’s LONELY HEART everything the Canadian trio touched has turned to gold. And the winning streak continues with new single “Sweet Poison” — the latest taste of the band’s just-announced 4th LP, Royal Blues (due November 11). This track finds Martina Sorbara & the boysexploring dreamy, late-night disco with a little help from Dada. “You play with my mind, I mess with your time,” she sings on the chorus. “We’re two wrongs that won’t make a right.” There’s a healthy dose of melancholy hiding behind the lush synths as the singer comes to terms with her bad romance. “Sweet Poison” is destined to be a highlight of Dragonette’s live show. Their upcoming North American tour kicks off in Waterloo, ON on November 9 and then crosses the continent before winding up in Boston, MA on December ...

STING – 57TH AND 9TH

A&M/Interscope Records announces the release of Sting’s new album, 57th & 9th, his first rock/pop project in over a decade, on November 11. 57th & 9th represents a wide range of Sting’s musical and songwriting styles, from the ferocious, Road Warrior-style imagery of “Petrol Head,” to the anthemic, “50,000” and the raucous, guitar-driven first single, “I Can’t Stop Thinking About You.” The album was recorded with Sting’s long-time collaborators Dominic Miller (guitar) and Vinnie Colaiuta (drums) and includes contributions from drummer Josh Freese (Nine Inch Nails, Guns n’ Roses), guitarist Lyle Workman and the San Antonio-based Tex-Mex band The Last Bandoleros. Riding a wave of inspiration, 57th & 9th came together impulsively, with sessions completed in just a few weeks. “It happened very quickly, very spontaneously,” he says. “My idea always is to surprise myself and the people I’m working with— and, hopefully, the listeners.” The album, produced by Martin Kierszenbaum, takes its ...

ALEJANDRO ESCOVEDO –...

Alejandro Escovedo’s journey is one that taken him from Texas to California to New York and back again to Texas, encompassing a breadth of music as varied as the many bands he was part of before embarking on a solo career. In the 1970s, he surfaced on San Francisco’s no-holds-barred punk scene centered around the Mabuhay Gardens in North Beach, a guitarist in the Nuns; Rank & File helped unite the disparate worlds of punk and country in the 1980s; and after he moved back to Austin, the True Believers combined all manner of Americana music in a harbinger of what was to come in Alejandro’s solo career which begun in 1992 with the album Gravity. Produced by Peter Buck (R.E.M.) and Scott McCaughey (The Minus 5) Burn Something Beautiful is Alejandro’s 12th solo studio album and most definitive album to date. The album was written, arranged and performed as a true collaboration with Peter and Scott in ...
