LINDI ORTEGA – LIBERTY

Lindi Ortega gives fair warning: “Don’t come any closer to my heart if you’re afraid of the dark.” However, that shroud is slowly lifted in Liberty. As the narrative unfolds in this concept album, a central character emerges – one who finally sheds the darkness of her past and emerges into the light. As melodies and tempos change throughout Liberty, her journey carries her steadily forward. The melodies and arrangements of Liberty draw on the epic work of Oscar winning composer Ennio Morricone, who became one of Ortega’s musical obsessions during the writing and recording of Liberty. Moreover, she enlisted Nashville producer Skylar Wilson (Justin Townes Earle, Rayland Baxter) when she discovered their shared passion for Quentin Tarantino movies. The sonic landscape of Liberty is enhanced by Nashville band Steelism, known for their dramatic blend of pedal steel guitar and electric guitar, as well as Country Music Hall of Fame member Charlie McCoy on harmonica.

JACK WHITE – BOARDING HOUSE REACH

JACK WHITE – BOARDING...

BOARDING HOUSE REACH sees Jack White expanding his musical palate with perhaps his most ambitious work thus far, a collection of songs that are simultaneously timeless and modern. Written and conceived while holed up in a spartan apartment with literally no outside world distractions, White exclusively used the same kind of gear he had when he was 15 years old (a quarter-inch four-track tape recorder, a simple mixer, and the most basic of instrumentation). The album explores a remarkable range of sonic terrain -- crunching rock ‘n’ roll, electro and hard funk, proto punk, hip hop, gospel blues, and even country -- all remapped and born anew to fit White’s matchless vision and sense of restless experimentation. BOARDING HOUSE REACH is a testament to the breadth of Jack White’s creative power and his bold artistic ambition.

GEORGE EZRA – STAYING AT...

George Ezra will release Staying At Tamara’s on March 23rd via Columbia Records on CD and vinyl formats. Three years after the release of his chart topping debut album Wanted On Voyage, George returns with a collection of “songs about escapism, dreaming, anxieties and love”. George explains that lead single “‘Paradise’ started life as a melody that I couldn’t get out of my head… Months later I set to writing a song highlighting the undeniable feeling of meeting somebody new and falling for them. We often find ourselves second guessing feelings that we have and trying to work out what it is that they might mean. But with love there is no uncertainty, it is what it is and I liken it to paradise.” Described by NME as an “anthem-in-waiting”, the uninhibited, feel-good “Paradise” is accompanied by a striking, high octane video featuring smashed guitars, cheerleaders, boxers and still-beating hearts.

BLACK FOXXES – REIDI

Reiði' – the Icelandic word for rage – is a fitting title for the second full length record to come from Exeter's Black Foxxes. Born from a restless need to push creative boundaries, and a fear of stagnation in all its forms, the followup to their acclaimed 2016 debut album 'I'm Not Well' sees the three‐piece pushing the vicious bite that fuels their band to new highs, and experimenting with menacing shade and uplifting light alike.
