DEAD LETTER CIRCUS – THIS IS THE WARNING

DEAD LETTER CIRCUS –...

When Dead Letter Circus blasted onto Australian airwaves in 2007, their bombastic yet nuanced take on alternative rock left most observers struggling to process what they were hearing. It was epic, it oozed confidence, it was intense and open all at once. It was the debut of a sound so fresh and unique that it was hard to classify. Album opener ‘Here We Divide’ is undulating, ignited by a shimmering riff from Maric and a wall of clinically precise work from the rhythm section, with Benzie’s lyrics screaming forth, at once rapid fire and soaring. ‘One Step’ is a monster of a song; “If ever a song wrote itself, ‘One Step‘ is that song for us” remarks Benzie. It’s a stadium filling track that has an undeniable, incendiary movement, that carries you to an outro waiting to deliver the first sensation of the hair standing on the back of your neck ...

ERIC CHURCH – CHIEF

ERIC CHURCH – CHIEF

Eric Church is on a mission. You might expect someone coming off of their first two Top Ten country singles and an ACM Award for “Top New Solo Vocalist” to lock down the formula and go for more of the same, but with third album, Chief, Church is trying something bolder and using the opportunity provided by his success to push his music even further. The lead single “Homeboy” is perhaps the bravest track on Chief. It is a provocative appeal from one brother to another to get back on track and make peace with his family. “I have a theory that all of us only get a small window of time to make records when people will really listen and care,” he says. “It’s up to us to move the needle. People like Waylon and Cash or Garth and Strait - they all changed the direction of the music a ...

JACK HARRISON – THE...

“I think “Sarvesham” is the most beautiful piece of music I have heard. I don’t say that lightly. There is something spectacular about it…it builds a bridge out of music between this world and the higher world. I have never heard something like this before…” Ann Hill, Writer, Galway Jack Harrison is a yoga teacher, singer and folklorist and has worked in all three areas for the last 30 years. A life long mythologist with a Masters in Irish Folklore, Jack has performed on several CDs including two with internationally renowned folksinger Liam Clancy. The Enchanted Island, his second solo CD, is inspired by Celtic themes and uniquely blends Indian Chant with the sounds of Irish folklore.
