FRED EAGLESMITH – 6...

6 VOLTS is Fred Eaglesmith’s 19th release. Never knowing what Fred Eaglesmith will do next, 6 Volts captured an honest vintage sound with great songs recorded with one mic, live off the floor, on one track, to a 1/4 inch reel to reel deck. TOTALLY LO-FI. EAGLESMITH succeeds in creating authentic and meaningful music and keeping it fresh and alive with spirit and feeling. “There’s still a certain love to it that’s better than multi-tracking.” he observes. “And this is the cool thing: The tension you hear on that record is real. It is not made by a fader. We were about to screw up and we saved it.” MUSIC doesn’t get any more real than when you can’t overdub, autotune, or fi x it in the mix. In the final analysis, it’s a simple equation. “We just play ROCK’N’ROLL,” Eaglesmith asserts. And in the process deliver music based on passion and ...

All the familiar virtues are there. The intensity. That peculiar combination of hypertension and soul. There is even a frenzied ...
