MURRAY McLAUCHLAN –...

Most artists spend their entire careers chasing that “middle space;” few artists find it. Then there is an artist like Murray McLauchlan who doesn’t search at all. For over 40 years, that “middle space,” the space between where our world exists and where it exists in song, is a world McLauchlan has meticulously woven through his melodies, poetry and most of all, stories. It’s a world he most recently explores on his new album, Human Writes. Often compared to the likes of Gordon Lightfoot and Bruce Cockburn, McLauchlan is a Canadian icon and household name and has crafted an unparalleled career, creating album after album of musical masterpieces. Murray’s first album in six years, Human Writes, is a breathtaking journey with one ofCanada’s most influential songwriters. In this 10 song collection of new original songs, Murray illuminates the tapestry of the human experience and reveals the world though his eyes. Simply put, ...

ALEXANDER EBERT –...

Alexander Ebert, lead singer of Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, has released his debut solo album Alexander via Community Music. The album includes ten brand new songs that Alexander wrote and composed entirely himself.  During breaks from touring with the Zeroes over the past year, Alexander began building and recording the pieces that would become the songs for this album alone in his bedroom. Before this album, all of the music he worked on had been collaborative, especially with the 10-person Magnetic Zeroes. "I wanted to be able to build an album basically with my hands, like building a house by myself," Alexander remarked of his inspiration for making this album without outside help. There isn't a single sound on the ten-song album that Alexander didn't perform himself. Alone in his room, he had his guitar, a Lowery organ he picked up at a St. Vincent's thrift store in ...

METALS was written over three autumn months in 2010 in a tiny garage behind her house, after a year away from the spotlight. The songs range from low rumbling and moody ambiences to brutal and intense, as if it sonically maps the fog rolling in and the resulting cracking of thunder. Like The Reminder, this album is astoundingly intimate, yet often exuberant; rife with transcendent and unforgettable pop gems. Feist performs "Graveyard" in ...

STRAWBS – ACOUSTIC GOLD

As Strawbs move gracefully into their fifth decade of music making, it is still difficult to categorise the unique sound that has made them Britain’s most successful international progressive folk-rock band. Over the past ten years Strawbs have built up a huge following in their unique acoustic line-up and have receive rave reviews at home and abroad. “Unlike many groups that are past their commercial prime and churn out inferior, dispirited versions of the hits from their glory days, the Acoustic Strawbs stand out as a band that performs their old material with passion and precision.” (Chicago Tribune)
