MARIANNE FAITHFULL – HORSES AND HIGH HEELS

MARIANNE FAITHFULL –...

Exquisitely produced by long-time collaborator Hal Willner, Horses and High Heels was recorded in New Orleans’ French Quarter last October with a core of exceptional local musicians. The album features 8 covers and 4 new songs co-written by Marianne, which feature the guitar playing of John Porter (Eric Clapton, Roxy Music, The Smiths); two cameos on guitar from Lou Reed, plus appearances from Dr. John and MC5’s Wayne Kramer. That Faithfull is a profoundly distinctive scorched-earth torch-singer and richly emotive songwriter is in full evidence on the sonically stunning Horses. The covers of songs by Greg Dulli & Mark Lanegan, Jackie Lomax, Carole King, The Shangri-La’s, RB Morris, and Lesley Duncan (“Love Song”), made famous by Elton John) encompass brooding guitar-rock, swooning country-rock, bar-room blues, and 70s soul classics.

TAKING BACK SUNDAY –...

This is the record that a lot of people never thought would happen: A brand new Taking Back Sunday album that features the same line-up as the band's platinum-selling 2002 debut Tell All Your Friends. Although the players here-frontman Adam Lazzara, guitarists Eddie Reyes and John Nolan, drummer Mark O'Connell and bassist Shaun Cooper-are the same, it's important to point out that this album isn't a sequel to this band's debut as much as it is the beginning of a new chapter of innovation and productivity from this celebrated Long Island rock act. What began with the simple idea of all five members coming together at the Sonic Ranch in the border town of Tornillo, Texas (near El Paso), last year quickly resulted in a sonic windfall that saw the band writing nearly a dozen songs-and from there Taking Back Sunday never looked back. "The whole experience of us getting back ...

SIMPLE PLAN – GET YOU HEART ON

SIMPLE PLAN – GET YOU...

Get Your Heart On! is a gloriously fun, boundlessly melodic slice of poppy modern-rock that finds Simple Plan returning to the revved-up energy of No Pads and Still Not Getting Any after taking a slight detour with a darker, more beat-driven sound on their previous album. Get Your Heart On! is a return to form for the pop-punk quintet and peppered with guest vocals provided by Rivers Cuomo (of Weezer), British songstress Natasha Bedingfield, Marie-Mai, Alex Gaskarth (of All Time Low) and K'Naan. Focus tracks "Jet Lag" (featuring Bedingfield or Marie-Mai) is about being away from your loved ones and "Can't Keep My Hands Off You" (featuring Rivers Cuomo) is a fun ditty about being absolutely infatuated with someone but the album really comes full-circle with "Astronaut," a truly soaring song - something we've never seen from the band before. Fans will be very pleased to hear "You Suck At ...
