Do You Know Eric Ethridge&...

Well you should! Eric is a local boy to be proud of who is making waves in the country music scene. From his website... Eric Ethridge’s brand started to gain serious momentum in 2015 after the release of a series of orchestra country-pop covers, one of which garnered him a mention in Rolling Stone Magazine. Subsequently his social media presence enjoyed a drastic increase with over 275,000 YouTube hits and an increase to over 1500 YouTube subscribers. In August of 2015 Eric was the runner-up in the Boots and Hearts emerging artist showcase, and has since had continued interest from both American and Canadian record labels. Fast Romantics POV On Music...

This is an excerpt from an article on FYI Music, dated May 03, 2017 by Jason Schneider.  The interview is with Matthew Angus of FAST ROMANTICS of which local musician Nick McKinlay is the drummer.   He's the one in the red shirt front & centre in band photo.  This is a fast rising all Canadian band you will want to take a listen to and watch as they skyrocket upward. Below is an awesome video for song "Julia". Q.  If you could change anything about the music industry, what would it be? The way music is released and consumed now doesn’t inspire long attention spans. All of us, me included, suffer from shorter-than-natural attention spans. Sometimes I fear there’s so much going on and so much noise in the world now that far fewer people sit down and really dig into a record. We spent two years on this album and I know ...

HOW WAS RECORD STORE DAY 2017?

HOW WAS RECORD STORE DAY 2017?

Well, there are not enough descriptive words to express how great it was. Thanks to all the wonderful suppliers & customers, we beat last years records every which way.  The suppliers provided us, as best they could, with more interesting titles than ever and the crowds where here to buy them in bigger numbers than previous years.  Along with taking advantage of our 'We pay the tax' sale' we exceeded expectations by a long shot. The shopper that came the farthest distance we are aware of was from Cincinnati Ohio.  Drove through the night to get here and be at the front of the line outside after he was forwarded our e-newsletter on Friday after closing with the list of exclusives we got by a local friend.  Had a few people in from Michigan, Toronto and London as well. Part of the fun day was the  3 mystery packages with cryptic names ...

Brighton Rock Singer Presses...

As reported in FYI Music News January 12, 2017 The Toronto Star catches up with Gerry McGhee, vocalist in Brighton Rock and now a partner in the spanking new, Burlington, ON Precision Pressing vinyl plant that comes on stream next week. Waxing on about the vinyl resurgence may be old news to some, but for Gerry McGhee, capitalizing on the trend has meant a troublesome, years-long quest to open a new vinyl pressing plant in Ontario. From searching the world for record-making machines to construction delays and cutting through bureaucratic red tape, it has been three long years, but McGhee can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Or will be able to after this weekend. “We actually had to approach our neighbours and ask them to shut down for 12 hours just to get the power lines in,” said McGhee, vice-president, Precision Record Pressing. “That’s happening this weekend, and we’ll finally be ...

MO POP FESTVIAL TICKET...

WHAT WAS MOPOP FESTIVAL LIKE YOU WONDER... ...It was awesome.  Roland and I attended the 2nd day (Sunday July 23) of the two day festival located just a bit west of Joe Louis Arena on Detroit's riverfront. The line up was impressive.  We got there in time to see Banners, Liverpool musician with a Sarnia connection - his bass player is originally from here and used to play in a band with our good friend (and occasionally helper) Ross Ellsworth.  Banners has a Coldplay vibe and we  predict great things to come for him. Our next favourite act, a new discovery to us was a band called Nothing But Thieves - also from England.  Don't think they expected it to be as roasting hot as it was - they had on long sleeves and leather jackets - but sounded fantastic.  They have new fans in us. Some of the other acts we caught were Shakey Graves and Father John Misty. Over all ...
