The Emperor’s New Clothes
Lambton Young Theatre Players will be holding auditions January 21st, 22nd, and 23rd for their Spring Production, THE EMPEROR’S NEW CLOTHES.
Based on the traditional story by Hans Christian Anderson, this new adaptation is full of fun, silly situations, larger-than-life characters, and is certainly fit for the times we live in.
“I’ve always loved this tale,” says writer/director, Nancy Keys. “On top of the obvious moral of the story, the comic foolishness and posturing by the so-called “important” people is hilarious, and the elaborate craftiness of the two thieves who seek to swindle the Emperor by pretending to weave a magical cloth is brilliant. I can’t promise that the Emperor in this production won’t have a comb-over, but I can promise a very colourful, funny, and entertaining show for big kids and little kids of all ages.”
Young people between the ages of nine and eighteen years are welcome to audition for THE EMPEROR’S NEW CLOTHES. No experience is necessary, and if cast in the production, a registration fee of $185.00 is required. This production is part of a performance training program with theatre professionals in direction and supervisory positions.
Auditions will take place in Petrolia, and an audition date/time must be booked. A short two minute monologue is required. Rehearsals begin January 29th in Petrolia and take place from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesdays and Thursdays. Twenty-four roles will be cast.
THE EMPEROR’S NEW CLOTHES will be presented at the Sarnia Library Theatre May 13 – 18 for school matinees and two public performances.
